The transformation from existing factories to smart factories is relatively complex, as building a smart factory is a massive undertaking. Existing factories cannot simply replace all equipment for the sake of smart factory transformation. Therefore, the transition from existing factories to smart factories should focus on how to retrofit, starting with IoT to connect people, machines, materials, methods, environment, and measurement, enabling effective collection of data from all elements.
