TPM stands for Total Productive Maintenance, an abbreviation that is a component of the smart factory system. It is a novel theory of equipment maintenance and management that focuses on the practice of equipment management and plays a crucial role in stabilizing production. TPM equipment management was developed by Denso Corporation in Japan based on the preventive maintenance theory of American companies. Moreover, since more than 80% of the employees in the company's manufacturing departments participated in this activity, it is called Total Productive Maintenance. Currently, many manufacturing companies seeking to transform into smart factories have implemented TPM management and practices. The basic idea of TPM is to improve the quality of enterprise equipment by enhancing the basic qualities of both equipment and personnel, aiming to increase the efficiency of the overall production system, and to control the equipment maintenance status from the dimensions of quality and time. At the same time, TPM activities advocate implementing equipment maintenance through full participation and autonomous maintenance, thereby promptly identifying issues and restoring equipment to a stable state.
