The demand and capacity planning module of the APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) system focuses on accurately aligning demand with capacity to provide a scientific basis for production planning.First, the module integrates internal and external demand data, including confirmed sales orders and market forecast data. It also records critical details such as customer-requested delivery dates and order priorities to ensure comprehensive and accurate demand-side information. Then, the APS system retrieves internal capacity resource data—including equipment models, maximum output, maintenance schedules, worker skill levels and available working hours, as well as workshop space, tooling, and other resource constraints—to form a complete capacity resource database.

Building on this foundation, intelligent algorithms perform supply-demand balancing analysis to calculate the distribution of long-term and short-term production loads, automatically identifying whether capacity is insufficient or excessive. If capacity is insufficient, optimization suggestions such as flexible line setup and outsourcing collaboration are provided; if excessive, the production rate is reasonably adjusted to avoid resource waste. At the same time, the APS system breaks down high-level strategic goals into specific production tasks, optimizes capacity allocation plans based on historical production data, and delivers actionable long- and short-term capacity plans. This provides clear direction for subsequent production scheduling and material coordination, ensuring that production plans align with both market demand and the enterprise's actual capacity.
